Hi, I'm Camila.
I've always been a science girl. I want to understand how things work, why they happen and what we can learn from them. For me, geology brings all of that together: observation, evidence, chemistry, history, problem-solving and a healthy amount of curiosity.
My interest in geology was shaped early on by growing up around the petroleum world and, above all, by my father, who was my first inspiration to look at it with curiosity. I was fascinated by the idea that something happening kilometres beneath our feet — under very specific geological and chemical conditions — could eventually become part of the world we live in.
That connection between what happens deep underground and what happens in our everyday lives is still one of the things I find most fascinating about geoscience.
I'm studying at NTNU during 2026–27, complementing my Geology degree at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with petroleum-focused geoscience coursework. I'm particularly interested in subsurface geology, geophysics, sedimentology, geochemistry, seismic interpretation, petrophysics and geological reservoirs.
I don't see my profile as only technical. I enjoy the space between understanding a problem, organising the work around it and communicating the result clearly.

My interest in petroleum geoscience comes from both curiosity and perspective. The resources beneath our feet have played an enormous role in shaping modern society and technological development. Understanding how geological systems create, store and transform these resources is, to me, a fascinating intersection of geology, chemistry and physics.
I want to understand those systems properly — not simply what we extract from the Earth, but the geological story that makes it possible in the first place.
That is why I'm particularly interested in subsurface and offshore geoscience, with a long-term interest in the North Sea. Norway has fascinated me since I was young, and studying here now feels like a natural continuation of that curiosity.

I like challenging myself and proving to myself that I can do more than I thought I could. My experience has taken me beyond purely academic geology and into project coordination, technical documentation, client and cross-team communication, international business support and digital operations.
I genuinely enjoy working. I'm resilient, curious, organised and attentive to processes. I tend to stay calm when things become stressful, I like understanding the bigger picture and I'm always looking for ways to make my work more useful to the people around me.
Those experiences have taught me that technical knowledge becomes even more valuable when it can be communicated clearly, organised effectively and turned into something other people can use.
Moving from Venezuela to Spain as a teenager and now studying in Norway has made adaptability a natural part of who I am. Living in different countries has taught me to navigate new environments, communicate across cultures and remain open to change.
More importantly, it has given me perspective. I feel incredibly lucky to have had these experiences. They are not just places I've lived — they are part of the person I've become.
I created GeoSmart because geology is one of the most fundamental sciences for understanding the world around us, yet its reach is often invisible to people who do not study it.
Through science outreach and @_geomila_, I want to change that, even if only a little. I want people to look at a landscape and wonder how it got there. To notice the rocks beneath their feet. To explore, observe and ask better questions.
Most importantly, I want science communication to encourage curiosity and critical thinking, rather than simply giving people facts.
Because there is so much more to geology than rocks.
Outside geology, I love travelling, maps, mountains, languages, technology, music, books and theatre. I can spend far too long analysing a novel, a film, a character or a map — usually asking very specific questions nobody asked me to investigate.
